Restricted Funds

The following are HSSM’s Restricted Funds, which allow us to designate contributions to very specific programs. If you have any questions about these funds, programs, or how to give to them, please contact HSSM’s Donor Relations Manager, Brittany Chowske at 228-863-3354 ext. 102.

Love Train

HSSM strives to find each and every pet that enters our care a loving forever home. However, due to our high intake of animals, the demand for adoptables is not high enough to keep up with our intake.

HSSM’s Love Train program allows us to save more animals’ lives by sending them to partner shelters and rescues across the United States that have low intake numbers but a higher demand for adoption.

Love Train is a great program to support because every pet that goes on Love Train is guaranteed a happy ending! Click here to find out more about HSSM’s Love Train or Donate now to the Love Train Fund.

Chicken Soup Fund

This Puppy is One of the Countless Saved by the Chicken Soup Fund.

HSSM spends nearly $250,000 each year on medical care for the pets entrusted to us.

HSSM’s medical fund has been lovingly dubbed the Chicken Soup Fund, because we all know that there is nothing better for the sick than a hot bowl of Chicken Soup!

Donations to this fund are exclusively used to treat animals in the shelter who come to us sick or injured. The Chicken Soup Fund allows HSSM to nurse the sick back to health and prepare them for their new home. HSSM’s Spay Neuter Incentives Program (SNIP) Fund is restricted to supporting the Louise Fenner Claiborne Spay/Neuter Clinic.

Funds donated to the SNIP Fund allow the Louise Fenner Claiborne Spay Neuter Clinic to purchase supplies, medicine and equipment, while offsetting the cost of surgeries being performed so that spay/neuter can be made affordable to every member of our community.
