80-90% of puppies and kittens given away for free will NEVER see a Veterinarian and NEVER be spayed or neutered.

My Dog Had A Litter of Puppies
Rather than giving the litter away for FREE, if you bring in your litter of puppies to HSSM, we can offer the parents of your litter FREE spay/neuter upon the surrender of your pups.
That’s right! Bring us your dog’s puppies and we will fix your dog(s) (both Mommy and Daddy!). If you are planning on taking us up on this offer, please let the Animal Care Associate know when you book your Intake Appointment at 228-863-3354 ext. 124 or 125.
I Found A Litter of Kittens
If you find a litter of kittens in your neighborhood or around your business, first call HSSM’s Louise Fenner Claiborne Spay Neuter Clinic at 228-863-3354 ext. 129 or 130. Our FREE Community Cats program may apply to your kittens or the cats in your neighborhood or around your business. We also may be running a spay/neuter special for cats, so that your kittens can lead longer, healthier lives and never have to enter the shelter!
There are certain times of the year when HSSM sees spikes in the number of kittens being brought into HSSM… we call this period “Kitten Season.” This usually occurs in the Spring and Summer and causes severe overcrowding in the shelter.
