Hundreds of dedicated individuals help the Humane Society of South Mississippi’s homeless animals by training dogs, socializing cats, counseling adopters and performing numerous other tasks at our shelter.
HSSM offers regular orientations and training sessions for both new and seasoned volunteers. Please note that all volunteers must be 18 years or older to help at HSSM.
HSSM’s volunteer needs and opportunities change very frequently. Because of our changing needs, HSSM has implemented a web-based system for communicating our needs and opportunities to you, as a new or returning volunteer.
Please be prepared to receive e-mails from HSSM’s Volunteer system alerting you to trainings, events, and other goings-on at HSSM. It is your responsibility as a volunteer to maintain a close watch on your e-mail for updates on upcoming opportunities.
